The Pre-Apartment Hunting List

One thing I wish I did prior to looking for an apartment is figure out the specifics of what I wanted. I knew I wanted a one bedroom/one bathroom unit, but what about security? Did I want a washer/dryer unit inside my apartment or just on-site facilities? Did I want an in-unit microwave (because believe it or not, there are some complexes that lack a microwave)? As you start narrowing down places, you’ll find that there is so much an apartment has to offer.
So below is a checklist of features to consider prior to looking at apartments. Whether you’re going in-person to see your apartment or doing so from thousands of miles away, these are some things to think about for any questions you may have for the complex managers.
Downloadable versions of the list are available at the end of the post for you: either the interactive Word version (that you can check off via your computer) or the PDF version (that you can print and check as you go). Enjoy!
